So I've been working on a different webcomic project which started 1/11/11. The webcomic is called Shizumiya, and can be found here: www.pink-manga-cutie.deviantar… Please stop by and take a look at the artwork. There is also a Smackjeeves account for Shizumiya:shizumiya.smackjeeves.com/

A few days ago I started a blog on Livejournal about the behind-the-scenes to the many projects I'm working on. @_@ If you have sometime check it out, friend me, and enjoy. pinkmangacutie.livejournal.com…

cheers,
Kat

Considering this Whoopass CSS has a Campbell's can theme, we figured we would feature some artwork with the Campbell's Soup as the subject. Of course, without Mr. Warhol's iconic art - would all this exist?

Hellooooooooooooooo Everyone!

Gee it's been more than a month since I last posted a hint of anything on DA. But I return to announce somthing awesome (at least for me).

I'm going back to my roots and writing& drawing a supernatural webcomic ala "Miss Grey."

"No way!" you say "Kat writing a paranormal themed story? The moon has surely crashed into MARS!" Stay calm my friend! The story I'm working on: "The 9 Lives of Maggie Monroe" is actually the story that inspired "Miss Grey" (the character Grey was originally Maggie). I'm just tweaking an eight year old story to flow better and adding some underlaying themes.

In a short description: Maggie Monroe was once an active ghost hunter before tragically getting hit by a drunk Santa on Christmas Eve. Death is a bit surprised to see Ms. Maggie since she wasn't scheduled to die for a few more decades, but alas she can't just "pop" back into existence. Maggie makes an agreement with Death: in exchange for putting her back in the world of the living she will chase down nine of the most devious lost souls wandering the land. Maggie is brought back to life (sorta) and uses her old ghost hunting team to go after the wandering spirits.

The comic won't be out until April with a graphic novel coming out later this year (hey I need to release another book to keep my reading audience up, even if it is a graphic novel!) 9 Lives will be up on huntforghosts.com eventually, but I'll be posting extra artwork here on DA.

If you read this entire entry you deserve a cookie!

Cheers,
Kat

End of an Era

3 min read

Gotta admit that work is getting the better of me these days. Traveling around and doing research has practically drained me of any life in my body by the end of each day. So I'm here to announce that I am just pulling out of the comics business altogether. Not that I was ever really in the business to begin with. I'll still be around here occasionally posting doodle or things I manage to draw up, but no comics.

Cheers,
Kat

Back from Japan

Hiya Everyone,
Last night I returned home from a long trip to Tokyo and Nagoya where I visited family and friends while traveling around the Kanto and Kansai regions. Got lots of ideas for comics in addition to an idea for a stand-alone comic for NaNoMango this month (which I am now 10 days behind on!)

I'm taking the day off today to relax from all the traveling and translation work I did for my mom while traveling around. In the week we were in Nagoya visiting my host family from five years ago, I was the only person fluent in both languages. In the end I was translating for 10 people that week. My brain needs a break.

Starting from tomorrow on to the end of the month I'll be doing a special comic inspired from my recent trip for NaNoMango (National Manga writing month) and putting How to Hunt for Ghosts on hold until December. Still waiting to hear if I'm in the 2011 Ohayocon Artists alley or not. If I am I'll be putting together the first volume of How to Hunt for Ghosts all December for the convention, if not...well...don't know what I'll be doing.

Anyway, thought you'd guys like to know what I've been up to for so long and why nothing new has gone up.
cheers,
Kat

[UPDATE]
Scratch that last bit about working on a special comic for November & NaNoMango. On second thought that is a very stupid thing to do and I got caught up in the excitement of a "new" project. Instead I'll be working on some new pages and colored artwork for you all to enjoy from How to Hunt for Ghosts.

Cheers
Kat

October has certainly flown by for this little author/ illustrator. In less than a week I'll be taking off to visit the land of the rising sun again after five years to go to a friend's wedding. Although I'm excited about visiting Japan again, I'm not so confident in my language speaking abilities anymore. So I study. The consequence of me studying all the time however means that no art will be done so this site won't update for awhile.

But some good news however, I am participating in NaNoMango '10 in November and will be drawing pages during my quiet down times while traveling. I have been working on pre-NaNoMango memes (one of which I've managed to put up here) for How to Hunt for Ghosts.

Because of my two week trip I won't be able to make this year's SugoiCon in Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky (I heard Fred Gallagher is a guest this year which is awesome). Speaking of cons, I'm still on the "acknowledged" status for Ohayocon's artist alley, a fact that is making me more and more nervous as the weeks tick by. Some people on the Ohayocon forums have already stated that they have been accepted so now I'm left wondering what is taking so long. Yesterday I did reserve a room for the convention, but if I don't get a table I probably won't be going to the convention.

--------On to Haunted Hoosier Halls promotional stuff-----------------------

Tomorrow my friend Dan T. Hall is debuting his latest paradocumentary "Ghost Stories 4" which I was a part of (yes, I am IMDB searchable now)at the Indiana State Museum IMAX theater in Indianapolis. If you are interested, the show starts at 7:30pm and will  be screened all day Sunday at the theater. Obviously since it is an independent movie about local Indiana haunted locations the movie is getting a limited release.

Anyway, gotta get back to bed so I can get over this stupid laryngitis.

Cheers,
Kat
